Student Code of Conduct Agreement

HVCA wishes to develop a strong Christian character in all students and to enable them to develop self-control and responsibility.  The basic guidelines for student conduct reflect the first two tenets of the HVCA RISE motto: (1) We RESPECT God, our fellowmen, our environment, and our bodies. (2) We show INTEGRITY in speech and in deed.

  • Student speech and behavior should demonstrate respect to and reverence for God and spiritual matters.
  • Student interactions with others (peers, staff, visitors, etc.) should be courteous and respectful. Foul language, inappropriate gestures or innuendos, bullying, harassment, threats, fighting, etc. violate the student code of conduct.
  • Students should care for their physical environment by using school facilities and equipment appropriately, cleaning up after themselves, and reporting any observed damage to a staff member. Misuse of school equipment or facilities or vandalism of school property violates the student code of conduct. Students who damage school property will be required to make restitution, which may result in a charge to the family’s account.
  • Students should show respect for the learning environment by reporting to classes on time, remaining in teacher-designated areas that are supervised, and allowing class instruction and learning to occur without disruption.
  • Students should honor their bodies as “the temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Tobacco, marijuana, alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes of all forms are prohibited from the school property.
  • In keeping with Biblical guidance, pork, seafood, and caffeinated beverages are not permitted in school (Leviticus 11).
  • Student lunches and snacks should be “nut free”.
  • Students should demonstrate honesty and integrity in both social and academic settings. Lying, cheating (copying, plagiarism, unapproved/undocumented use of AI, etc.), and stealing do not reflect our school’s core values.
  • Students may not bring weapons of any kind to school. This includes toy weapons.

Teachers handle most discipline for classroom infractions. Warnings and violations are recorded and communicated through Jupiter. Repeated violations of the code of conduct will be addressed by the administrative disciplinary team. Major violations will automatically be referred to the school board disciplinary committee.
