Cell Phone & NAED Agreement

HVCA strives to maintain and provide a campus environment in keeping with the spiritual and educational philosophy of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This type of environment does not always, nor should it, reflect the same principles of other non-Seventh-day Adventist institutions. It is our attempt to train students with the emphasis on being in the world, not of the world. As society becomes more and more technologically dependent, our school remains committed to creating a balanced learning environment, which limits aimless “screen time,” guides students through the intentional, meaningful use of technology, and fosters the development of social and emotional skills often compromised by excessive cell phone use.

Cell Phones & Non-academic Electronic Devices (NAED)

HVCA is a “cell phone free” school. Parents may call the school office to contact their child. We encourage Apple air tags for parents who wish to track their child’s location during the commute to and from school.

Students may not have a cell phone on their person or in their school bag during the school day. NAEDs (i.e., ipads, tablets, laptops, smart watches, music players, etc) and accessories (i.e., earpods or headphones) are also prohibited from the school building and the school bus.

NOTE: Academic electronic devices include hand-held calculators (TI and Casio brands) and school-issued Chromebooks and ipads.

Any staff member may confiscate devices and accessories if seen or used in the school building. All devices and accessories will be secured in the office. Failure of the student to follow a staff member’s request may require disciplinary action.

Any violation of the Cell Phone & NAED policy will result in the following:

1st Violation- The device/accessory will be confiscated and a warning issued.

2nd Violation- The device/accessory will be confiscated, a cell phone/NAED violation will be issued, and the parent must pick up the device.

3rd Violation- The device/accessory will be confiscated, a cell phone/NAED violation will be issued, the parent must pick up the device, and the disciplinary committee will meet with the parent to discuss further action.
