At HVCA, we believe our attire should be marked with tidiness and Christlike modesty, decency, and simplicity (Gal 3:7, Is. 51:10, 1 Tim 2:9-10). As such, students who attend HVCA must follow the school’s dress code policy outlined in the handbook.
- Students must wear the school uniform on non-PE days.
- On PE days, students must wear their PE uniform (gray HVCA t-shirt and navy sweatpants) and appropriate footwear (socks and sneakers).
- Students should not wear frayed or torn clothing to school.
- All skirts, shorts, and pants must be worn at the natural waistline.
- If girls choose to wear skirts, they must be no more than one inch above the knee. In addition, girls should wear black or blue shorts underneath the skirt. During the winter months, if girls choose to wear a skirt, they may wear black or navy blue leggings (no patterns) or tights under the uniform skirts.
- Shoes and sneakers must be predominantly neutral colors such as black, white, gray, or brown. Shoes with wheels, lights, and neon colors are not allowed.
- All opened toe and opened heel shoes are prohibited. This includes sandals, flip-flops, slides, and crocs.
- No caps or other hats, scarves, doo-rags, skull caps, or sunglasses are to be worn in the building.
- No blankets or non-HVCA hoodies should be worn in the school building. On cold days, students may wear a navy blue cardigan with no design over the uniform shirt.
- No jewelry is allowed. Smartwatches are prohibited; however, students may wear a wristwatch that does not have Smart Technology.
- No tattoos are allowed to show on the body.
- All make-up and nail polish must be clear and/or neutral.
- On dress down days, students’ attire must reflect the school’s dress code in length, fit, and appropriateness. Clothing must be free of graphics and messaging.
Students who have not been able to purchase school uniform items due to items not being stocked will be issued a special pass to wear similar attire or attire approved by the administrator until items become available.
